Fall 2020 Virtual Commencement
We are proud of the continued effort, diligence, and perseverance of the class of 2020 during these challenging times. Normally we would be able to celebrate these accomplishments in person at our fall commencement ceremony. Unfortunately, the continuing limitations on gathering people for such large events will prevent us from doing so.
While we recognize that it will not replace an in-person celebration, the university is producing a virtual fall 2020 commencement ceremony to honor the accomplishments of our fall 2020 graduates. The pre-recorded video will feature remarks by Chancellor Riley, a commencement address from our guest speaker, John Jeter (music director and conductor of the Fort Smith Symphony), and congratulatory messages from deans and faculty. This prerecorded even will be posted on the UAFS webpage and social media channels the morning of December 12, 2020.
In addition to remarks from Chancellor Riley and Mr. Jeter, each college will have their own video with a message from the college’s dean and a personalized slide displaying the name, degree, applicable academic honors, and graduate photo. The name and degree and each graduate will be read as it shows on the screen.
The virtual commencement ceremony will be on the UAFS YouTube channel after December 12.
