Title IX Welcome
Welcome to the UAFS Title IX Website. There is an enormous amount of concern right now in our society about safety on our college and university campuses, and here you will find information about how to stay safe, how to report incidents, what your rights are, and what resources are available to assist you. Topics that are addressed include Sexual Misconduct, Discrimination,Harassment, and Retaliation. A particular emphasis in our programming for 2014-2015 will be on bystander training, essentially helping students gain skills to intervene in social situations in a manner that facilitates wise decisions and protects others.
We invite you to read through the site, ask questions, arrange for a training session for your group, and learn how to report if you need to. Title IX if often thought of as an athletics-focused federal statute, but in reality it covers almost all programs at our university. We especially urge you to read the definitions provided. You may be surprised, for example, to learn what consent or sexual harassment really means. Let’s be informed, be respectful in relationships, and be safe.
