I have changed the titles of an assignment and an assessment, but the changes do not shown on the titles of the links. Why?

Anything in the content area of the Blackboard courses are links except the folders. If you want to change the title of a folder, you go to the folder properties, but if you want to change the title of a file, an assignment, a discussion, or a learning module, you need to go to the Customize Link.

How to create a test for students with special needs?

"I have a test for the mid-term, but one of the students needs more testing time (e.g. ADA) or one of students needs a separate testing period. What should I do?"

 
Sometimes you need to create a test for ADA student with the same test items, but longer testing time or you need to allow a student to take a test at a different time. The following are instructions how to accomplish this.
 
  1. Adding Test Availability Exceptions
  • Log into the Blackboard
  • Open the course which you have created the test.
  • Click the course tools tab
  • Click test button
  • Click the build test button
  • Click the actionlinks of the test which you want to make a copy
  • Click copy
  • Edit the copied test
  • Deploy the appropriate folder for student to take test
  1. Setting the Release criteria for this new test
  • Click the actionlinks arrow of the test you have just deployed in the appropriate folder
  • Click adaptive release
  • Under membership move the student to the right box
  • Click submit
  • Now only this student can take the new test

How to add a teaching assistant to my Blackboard Learn 9.1 course?

To add a teaching assistant to your online course:
  1. Log into the Blackboard
  2. Open the course you want to add a teaching assistant
  3. Click the users and groups under control panel
  4. Click users
  5. Click the enroll users tab
  6. Click find users to enroll
  7. Type the username usually the first character of the first name plus the last name (e.g type szhang if you want to enroll Sky Zhang to your course as a teaching assistant)
  8. Under role check the teaching assistant box
  9. Click submit

How to import a test into a Blackboard Learn 9.1 course?

  1. To import a test into a Blackboard course:
  2. Log into the Blackboard
  3. Open the course that you want to import a test.
  4. Click the edit mode to on
  5. Click test surveys and pools on the course tools
  6. Click tests
  7. Click import test
  8. Browse to the location where the test is stored
    • To import the test stored on your computer; click browse my Computer icon and browse to the location.
    • To import a test stored in the files of another course, click the browse icon and browse to the file location (you should see a list of courses you have access to).
  9. Select the test
  10. Click submit to start the importing process.
  11. The test should be on the test list
  12. Click ok

How to export a test from a Blackboard Learn 9.1 course?

To export a test from a Blackboard course:
  1. Log into Blackboard
  2. Open the course that you want to export a test.
  3. Click theedit mode to on
  4. Click on test surveys and pools on the course tools
  5. Click tests
  6. Check the box of the test you want to export
  7. Click the export button
  8. Give a name to the exported file (this name will not be the test name. It is only to help you identify the test)
  9. Save the exported test file to a location of your choice
  • To save the file on your computer, click save button and browse to the location 

How to delete temporary Internet and Java files on your computer to solve various online course related problems?

Many problems in the online courses are caused by the overstuffed cache on your computer. You should delete the Internet temporary file and Java temporary files at least once a week if you work in the online courses daily and browse the Internet frequently.

The following are some instructions to clean your computer:

  • Clear Temporary Internet Files
  1. Click "Start" on the Menu bar of your computer
  2. Click Control Panel (in the older version of Windows operating systems, you may need to click “Settings” to find Control Panel)
  3. Click Internet Options
  4. Click "Delete" under Browsing History
  5. Click “Delete files” under Temporary Internet Files or click “Delete All” at the bottom of the dialog box.
  6. Click “OK”
Note: To clean the cache in Firefox (Tools/Options/Advanced/Network/Offline Storage/Clear Now)
 
  • Clear Java Cache:
  1. Click Start on the Menu bar of your computer
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Java
  4. On the General tab, click Settings under Temporary Internet Files/
  5. Click "Delete Files"
  6. Click "OK"
     
  • Many computer problems can be corrected by shutting down your computer and waiting 30 seconds before restarting the computer.
